Cupertino tech giant Apple has finally launched the much anticipated iPhone of the year in two variants iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. With the launch of these two variants some of the rumored found to be true about the upcoming. What are those do read on !


No more 3.5 mm headphone Jack

Apple has finally said good bye to universal headphone jack and now the Lightning port will do the job. Although each new iPhone model will come with bundled Lightning EarPods, and a Lightning-to-3.5mm audio adapter, so you can use your old headphones.

What’s BAD? Now you will not be able to charge the iPhone and listen to the music through headphones at a single time.

Storage Increased – but no external card support

Minimum storage is boosted from 16GB to 32GB. So, from the iPhone 7 you will get atleast 32GB storage variant in the market with 128GB and 256GB on the higher models, and YES their still NO memory card support in iPhone.


Does the RAM increased?

Every one was predicting that at least higher model of iPhone will be equipped with higher RAM but both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are equipped with only 2GB RAM, but Apple is claiming that even with this amount of RAM both the phones are most powerful phones in the market.


Cameras – The Big Differentiator And might be Main Selling Point

There’s no denying Samsung has taken the photography crown from Apple in recent years, but the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus may steal it back:


  • iPhone 7 – Rear: 12 megapixel sensor, f/1.8 aperture, Focus Pixels, Optical Image Stabilisation, quad-LED (dual tone) flash, 4K video recording. Front: 7MP sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 1080p recording
  • iPhone 7 Plus – Rear: Dual 12MP sensors (f/1.8, 28mm & f/2.8, 56mm), Focus Pixels, OIS, 2x optical zoom, quad-LED (dual tone) flash, 4K video recording. Front: 7MP sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 1080p recording

iPhone 7 camera is upgraded with larger f/1.8 aperture to let in more light specially in low light conditions, a 6 element lens and additions of OIS(optical Image Stabiliser). Further addition of wide colour capture for more colour accurate photos and a new Apple-designed image signal processor which does the hardwork optimizing images after they are captured.

While the iPhone 7 Plus steals the show here with dual camera setup at rear out of which one lens is 28mm wide angle while the other 56mm lens is Telephoto lens. Large size lens also has 2X optical zoom and far greater deapth of field. Wide angle lens is remain same of both the iPhones.

Both phones get upgraded 4-LED True Tone flash mix of warm and cool lights to produce natural colors. This new LED combo maked the brightnes increased to 50 percent.

Front camera of both phones is 7MP with f/2.2 aperture(same as previous year models) and able to capture videos at 1080p resolution.


Performance Boost

Both the iPhones are equipped with Apple’s all new A10 Fusion chipset equipped with quad core processor. Apple claims they will deliver 40% faster CPU performance and up to 50% faster graphics performance than the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.

Apple has upgraded the 4G modem to support speeds of up to 450Mbit. Though it made no claims to have improved the Touch ID fingerprint sensor, though it doesn’t really need to be any faster.

Design with IP67 protection

Although the the dimension of new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are identical to year old iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus

  • Phone 7 – 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm (5.44 x 2.64 x 0.28 in) and 138 g (4.87 oz)
  • iPhone 7 Plus – 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3 mm (6.23 x 3.07 x 0.29 in) and 188 g (6.63 oz)

there is addition of IP67 coating which makes them dust and water resistant (good for full submersion in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes).

Physical home button is replaced with touch sensitive surface which provides hap-tic feedback to mimic the feeling of a click. App developers can also harness the hap-tic feedback for custom vibrations, which could prove interesting.

Antenna bands has been moved from back to top and bottom edges of the phones.


Sound is Stereo Now

Both phones are equipped with stereo speakers one at the bottom and other is the earpiece on the top which also acts as loudspeaker when required and is loud enough to work as a partner.

Display do the Job

Both phones has OLED display not 2K like some flagship android but carried over 3D Touch from iPhone 6S though. Apple claiming that these displays are 25% brighter “cinema standard” Retina HD display. There is also a wider (P3) colour gamut and improved colour management, though Apple stopped short of labeling them ‘True Tone’ displays like that on the iPad Pro.

  • iPhone 7 – 4.7-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD, 1334 x 750 pixels (326 ppi), 65.6% screen-to-body ratio
  • iPhone 7 Plus – 5.5-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD, 1920 x 1080 pixels (401 ppi), 67.7% screen-to-body ratio.

Battery life – No fast charging yet

Apple is not disclosed the actual capacity of the new battery of both the phones but claimed that user will get 2 hours of more backup when compared to iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. Missing the addition of fast charging is not good, at least iPhone 7 Plus could have this featur

iPhone 7 base variant is priced at $649 (43000 Indian Rupee) while the iPhone 7 Plus base variant is priced at $749 (50000 Indian Rupee). Pre-Orders opens this Friday and shipping will start from 13 September except India where iPhone will be launched on October 7.

  • iPhone 7 Plus – 32GB ($749), 128GB ($849), 256GB ($949)

As for finishes, you’ll get a wider array of options this year with Rose Gold, Gold, Silver, Black and (for just 128GB and 256GB options) Jet Black(not available in 32GB).
